Windows Maximizing a Window

Sometimes you will open a program such as Microsoft Word, or the Internet, and it will come up minimized, with only a small part being displayed on the computer screen. For screen reader users this is not generally an issue, but if you want a person with sight to proof what you have written, it is a big problem. If a program comes up minimized and you want to make it fill the entire computer screen, press and hold down the Alt key and hit the Spacebar one time. Release the Alt key. Hit the letter x and the program will fill the Windows screen. Or, press Alt Spacebar, down arrow to the "Maximize" menu item, and then hit the Enter key one time. Do the following activity to maximize the Windows screen for a minimized program. There are headings on this page. Use the letter h to move forward through the headings, and Shift h to move backward through the headings. When you hear a heading you want to work with, down arrow, or use your screen reader's "Read All" key command. There is an audio demonstration (MP3 format) link. Hit enter on this link to listen to it, or download it. When you are finished move to the link at the bottom of this page titled "BACK" to go to the "Simple Windows Lessons" web page.
